Frequently Asked Questions About Membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

How can I find out more information on your sorority?

Feel free to visit our national web site to find out more about our sorority.  You may also read In Search of Sisterhood, a book written by Paula Giddings that describes the history of our organization, features insight from some of our Founders, and details the involvement of African-American women in the economic, political, and social arenas over the years.

How do I become a member?

All chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. host a meeting, commonly known as the RUSH, where you receive information about the sorority and how to become a member. The RUSH activity is hosted at the discretion of the local chapter. All persons interested in becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta must attend the official RUSH activity.

To become a member of an alumnae chapter, you must have received a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university with a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 grading scale or a 1.75 on a 3.0 grading scale. You may apply for membership at a chapter within the community where you reside.

If I meet all requirements specified at RUSH do I automatically receive an invitation for membership intake?

No. Our goal is to select women who not only meet the basic requirements, but also exceed them. Deltas continue the tradition of excellence in all aspects. Therefore, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. invites all women to apply who exhibit excellent personal and professional character with high moral code, and who have a commitment to giving back in service to the community.

Is there an age limit to join?

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. does not have an age limit for application in either the collegiate or alumnae chapters.
