Greetings on behalf of the 500+ phenomenal women of the award-winning Southfield Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, proudly serving 23 cities in southern Oakland County. I welcome you to explore our website and follow us on social media to learn more about our community commitment, phenomenal leadership, and phenomenal legacy.
This year, we celebrate 40 years of service as the first Black Greek-lettered organization in the city of Southfield, continuing the 111-year legacy of our Founders’ vision of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action.
Our dedication to making a phenomenal impact through our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust is stronger than ever – from improving economic development, supporting youth education through tutoring and enrichment programs for elementary, middle, and high school scholars, and a Cotillion debutante presentation to society – to advancing our international imprint, elevating physical and mental health, strengthening political advocacy, and ensuring the cultural appreciation through arts education and awareness.
There is a way for each of us to get involved – Southfield Alumnae Chapter members and community members alike. Save the dates and celebrate with us this year at our upcoming Community Fair honoring our 40th Charter Anniversary on November 16-17 and our 40th Anniversary Soiree on April 4. Join us at a community walk in support of our national charitable partners, including March of Dimes, St. Jude, American Cancer Society, or sign up to donate blood at one of our American Red Cross blood drives. Spread the word about our staple programs, including our expungement fairs, Small Business Saturday event, and youth programs. Consider donating to our scholarship program, which has awarded over $30,000 annually to college students. Attend one of our seminars on the arts, economic development, or physical and mental health.
Please share your ideas and feedback via the “Contact Us” link above. Scan the QR code to the right and join our email distribution list to stay abreast of our community events and programs. It takes a village, and “many hands make light work.” We are eagerly seeking to connect with community activists, new collaborators, sponsors, partners – and you to join us as we strive to maximize our phenomenal impact in doing this important work.
With great expectation,
Venus J. Brown, President
Southfield Alumnae Chapter
